How cheeky foundry uses business information
Who we are
cheeky foundry is the trading name of a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, who is the controller of the information described here. Contact: [email protected]. Our postal address will be added to this page.
What we collect, and where from
About businesses we may write to: the business name, trading address, phone number, website, category, and its public rating and number of reviews. We take these only from places the business has made them public: its Google Maps listing (through Google's official interface), its own website, and public registers such as Companies House. We do not buy contact lists.
When you open the sample site from your letter, we record that the link was opened and whether you chose “I'd like this” or “No thanks”. The sample pages set no cookies and use no advertising or analytics trackers.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use this information to build a sample website for your business and to write to you once, by post, offering it. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): offering a relevant service to a business, using contact details it has published for customers to use. We keep the contact to a single letter and make it easy to say no.
We use AI tools to help draft the text of sample sites, working only from the public information above. No decision with legal or similarly significant effects is made about you automatically.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that help us run cheeky foundry: Cloudflare (website hosting and our database), our print-and-post provider (to print and send the letter), and, if you become a customer, our payment provider. Some of these providers may process information outside the UK; where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK law provides, such as adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum. We never sell information.
How long we keep it
If you don't reply, we delete your business's details within 6 months of our letter. If you say “No thanks”, we keep only the minimum needed (such as the business's address or listing ID) on a do-not-contact list, permanently, so that we never write to you again. If you become a customer, we keep the records needed for the contract and for tax.
Your rights
You can object to us contacting you at any time, and we will stop — press “No thanks” on your sample page or email us. You can also ask for a copy of the information we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.
